QueryGlow License Agreement

Last updated: December 7, 2025

Plain English Summary

You bought it, you can use it. Run it on as many servers as you want. Let your whole team use it. Use it for client work. Forever.

Just don't:

  • Give or sell the code to others
  • Build a competitor with it
  • Post it publicly online

1. Definitions

2. Grant of License

Subject to the terms of this Agreement, Licensor grants Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to use the Software.

3. Permitted Uses

Licensee MAY:

  • Deploy Unlimited Instances: Run the Software on unlimited servers, containers, or environments owned or controlled by the Licensee.
  • Allow Team Access: Grant access to all employees, contractors, and team members within the Licensee's Organization who need to use the Software.
  • Use for Client Work: Use the Software to connect to and manage databases belonging to Licensee's clients, customers, or third parties — provided the Software itself remains on Licensee's infrastructure and is operated by Licensee.
  • Modify the Code: Alter, customize, or extend the source code for Licensee's internal use.
  • Use Commercially: Use the Software for any lawful commercial purpose.

4. Prohibited Uses

Licensee may NOT:

  • Redistribute: Distribute, share, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or otherwise make the Software or its source code available to any third party — whether for free or for payment.
  • Resell: Sell the Software, source code, or any derivative work as a standalone product.
  • Provide as a Service: Offer the Software as a hosted service, managed service, or "Database GUI as a Service" to third parties.
  • Create Competing Products: Use the Software's code, architecture, or design as the basis for a product that competes with QueryGlow.
  • Publish Publicly: Upload the source code to any public repository, file-sharing platform, or website.
  • Transfer the License: Transfer, assign, or sell this license to another individual or entity. This includes transfer via company acquisition or sale.
  • Remove Attribution: Remove or alter any copyright notices, license information, or attribution in the source code.

5. Clarifications

5.1 Freelancers and Agencies

If you are a freelancer or agency, you may use the Software to manage databases for multiple clients. However, you may NOT:

Each client who wants their own independent installation must purchase their own license.

5.2 Company Acquisitions

The license is personal to the original Licensee. If the Licensee's company is acquired, merged, or sold, the license does NOT transfer to the new owner. The new owner must purchase a new license to continue using the Software.

5.3 Team Size

There is no limit on the number of team members who can access a Licensee's deployment. However, all team members must be part of the Licensee's Organization. The license cannot be shared between unrelated companies or individuals.

6. Updates

This license includes access to all updates, bug fixes, and new features within the 1.x version line of the Software.

Future major versions (2.x, 3.x, etc.) may be released as separate products and may require a new purchase or upgrade fee. Licensee retains perpetual access to all 1.x versions regardless of future releases.

7. Intellectual Property

The Software and all associated intellectual property rights remain the exclusive property of the Licensor. This license grants usage rights only — no ownership is transferred.

Modifications made by the Licensee belong to the Licensee, but may not be distributed separately or as part of a competing product.

8. Termination

This license is effective until terminated. Licensor may terminate this license immediately, without notice, if Licensee violates any provision of this Agreement.

Upon termination:

9. Use at Your Own Risk

QueryGlow is a database management tool that can read, modify, and delete data. YOU USE THIS SOFTWARE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Licensee acknowledges and accepts:

  • Database operations may result in permanent, irreversible data loss.
  • The Software may contain bugs causing data corruption or unintended changes.
  • Licensee is solely responsible for maintaining backups.
  • Licensee must test in non-production environments before production use.
  • Licensee is responsible for securing their installation.
  • Licensor has no access to and no responsibility for Licensee's data.

Always maintain backups. Always test before production use.

10. No Warranty

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. LICENSOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

11. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.

LICENSOR'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE LICENSE.

12. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Aachen, Germany (for business customers).

13. Entire Agreement

This Agreement, together with the Terms and Conditions, constitutes the entire agreement between Licensee and Licensor regarding the Software. It supersedes all prior agreements, understandings, and communications.
