Run it on a small VPS at DigitalOcean, Hetzner or AWS Lightsail, wherever your stack lives. You need Docker (512 MB RAM minimum, 1 GB recommended), a domain pointing at the server, and a non-root user with sudo. Later, ./queryglow update backs up first and rolls back on its own if the new version does not come up.

How much does QueryGlow cost for our startup?
QueryGlow is $79 once. That's it. Your whole team on one install, every database you connect, all features included. Whether you're 2 co-founders in a garage or 50 employees in an office, the price is the same. No per-seat fees, no monthly subscriptions, no surprise bills.
We have junior developers. Is QueryGlow safe?
Safe Mode is on by default and is designed for exactly this scenario. It blocks DROP DATABASE always. It blocks DROP TABLE, TRUNCATE and DELETE or UPDATE without WHERE by default. It adds LIMIT 1000 to a read that has none. And since 1.3.0, on a connection marked production the Query Editor shows the statement and asks before any write runs. Your junior devs can explore and learn with rails in place.
Can non-technical team members use QueryGlow?
Yes. The AI SQL generation feature lets anyone describe what data they need in plain English, for example "show me all customers who signed up last month", and QueryGlow generates SQL from your schema for them to review and run. Your ops person or customer support lead can pull reports without writing SQL from scratch.
Does QueryGlow add a data processor?
QueryGlow is self-hosted: your rows stay on your server and QueryGlow itself is no processor for your data. Two things do leave: the optional Ask AI call sends table and column names, types and your prompt (never rows) to the AI provider you chose, and your team's browsers load the SQL editor from cdn.jsdelivr.net. Document both for a SOC 2 audit or investor due diligence. Consult your legal team for your specific requirements.
What databases does QueryGlow support?
PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, CockroachDB, and TimescaleDB: 6 databases in one interface. As your stack evolves, you don't need different tools for different databases.
How do we deploy QueryGlow?
Clone the repo and run ./queryglow install on a small VPS or your existing infrastructure. It sets up nginx, the HTTPS certificate, the login and the app on a Linux server that already has Docker with the compose plugin, or plugs into the nginx you already run. ./queryglow update keeps it current: it backs up first and rolls back on its own if the new version does not come up. Put it behind your VPN or add Cloudflare Access for extra security.
